1. everyone already told you about the tranny, and $4k is about right. 2. launch? we tried to launch a VR4 by revving it up all the way and dropping the clutch. it bogged, then slowly got going. need to feather it out like a Z. 3. oil leaks! big time on the front seals, poorly made. 4. gadgets out the ass that break. nice when they work though. 5. back seats are worthless unless you have no legs at all 6. way too heavy, and you can tell when you drive it, especially after driving a Z. try them both and see for yourself. 7. if you mod, you're definately breaking the tranny. 8. unlike the detuned race cars like the supra or Z, the VR4 is made on a Galante chassis and uses the Diamante engine with turbos added (more to it, of course, but that's the platform) 9. and one of the worse things about them...there are like a thousand basic 3000GTs and SLs that LOOK like a VR4 to most people. might as well get a camaro
